Hyperthrive Athletics is owned and operated by 3 brothers, Aaron, Nolan, and Joseph Grinstain.
We are dedicated to the growth of our home city of Sacramento and passionate about building meaningful relationships and impacting lives.
Our team takes our craft seriously and invest hundreds of hours and thousands of dollars every year on continuing education and mentorship from some of the top performance coaches in the world with one goal in mind; help our athletes become the best versions of themselves on and off the field.
JOSEPH GRINSTAIN
OWNER/DIRECTOR OF STRENGTH AND PERFORMANCE
Joe was a multi-sport athlete at Natomas High School in Sacramento and earned the Nighthawk of the Year award his senior year recognizing his athletic and leadership abilities.
After high school, Joe attended CSU Chico where he graduated with a degree in Kinesiology - Movement Studies. During his time in Chico, Joe took over the role of Head Strength and Conditioning coach at Mavericks Athletic Development in Chico, CA, and helped run the CSU Chico softball team’s strength program his senior year.
Joe is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Association, and his experience includes strength and conditioning internships at the University of Alabama (baseball), University of California Berkeley (football), Capital Strength and Performance in Sacramento, and Cressey Sports Performance in Boston. He has worked with every level of athletic development from youth to professional athletes.
AARON GRINSTAIN
OWNER/PERFORMANCE COACH/BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT AND OPERATIONS
Aaron started his collegiate career at Butte College after graduating from Natomas High School in Sacramento. During his time playing baseball at Butte College, he earned all-conference honors, was named the team’s Pitcher of the Year his sophomore year, and helped the Roadrunners make the Northern California Juco playoffs twice. His efforts at Butte College earned a scholarship to play at Abilene Christian University in Texas.
Over the past 8 years, Aaron has been dedicated to becoming the best coach and business owner possible and improving his craft daily. He is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Coach through the US Track & Field Academy and a Certified Personal Trainer through the National Council on Strength and Fitness.
NOLAN GRINSTAIN
OWNER/DIRECTOR OF SPEED PERFORMANCE
Nolan became fascinated by human movement while playing numerous sports throughout his childhood and into high school. After high school, he attended CSU Chico where he earned a Bachelors's Degree in Exercise Physiology. While in Chico, Nolan interned with a physical therapy clinic where he observed and participated in helping rehabilitate individuals with various injuries.
Nolan is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Association, and a Master Sports Performance Coach through the National Sports Performance Association, which recognizes knowledge and mastery of speed and agility, weightlifting, program design, and sports nutrition.
KYLE ROGERS
THROWING DIRECTOR
Prior to serving as the Throwing Director of Hyperthrive Athletics, Kyle served as the Director of Athletic Performance at California State University, Northridge in Los Angeles, Calif. He oversaw the strength and conditioning programs for all 19 NCAA Division I teams. Before going to California State University, Northridge, Kyle spent 3 years at Driveline Baseball in Kent, WA where he was the High-Performance Coordinator and oversaw the integration between strength and pitching.
Kyle is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Association. Kyle has coached athletes at levels ranging from high school to Major League Baseball, including Seattle Mariners MLB pitcher Dan Altavilla. Kyle is also the Director of Performance at Diamond Sports Training Center in Puyallup, WA where he runs his own strength and pitching programs. Kyle played collegiate baseball at Belmont Abbey College.
TOMMY SLEVA
THROWING COACH - ROSEVILLE LOCATION
Before joining the Hyperthrive Athletics team as the throwing coach, Tommy spent 6 years in collegiate athletics. Coach Sleva started his collegiate career at Yuba CC where he found his passion for Strength and Conditioning, Driveline Protocols, and coaching. Tommy soon transferred to Tabor College in Hillsboro, KS. He earned his Bachelor's Degree in Health and played a big role in the pitching staff where he became a leader for the program. He received First Team All-Conference honors and helped Tabor College appear in multiple NAIA Regional Playoff opportunities.
After his playing days, Tommy went on to receive his Masters in Business Administration at Tabor College while he was a Graduate Assistant Baseball Coach. Tommy specialized in pitching development, the implementation of Rapsodo and Diamond Kinetics, along with overseeing the strength and conditioning program. He took his first Head Coaching job with the Kansas Cannons where he was awarded Coach of The Year posting a 35-15 record along with making the teams first-ever Final Four appearance in the NBC World Series. Following his time in Kansas, Tommy took a position as a Pitching Coach at Sierra College in Rocklin, CA where he oversaw pitching development.
